Memphis Continued...

Overlooking downtown

 Bison Mural downtown Memphis

Looking up to the spot where MLK was assassinated

Beale Street

I loved walking around Memphis with no particular place to go. That's how I found the wonderful bison mural above. Such lovely surprises that brightened the cloudy days. Along with Graceland, we hit up Sun Studio. Felt so surreal to be standing where one of my fave artists, Johnny Cash, once recorded. Of the many museums we visited, the must-see one for me was the Civil Rights Museum. It was so incredibly moving. All and all, a stellar trip. Message me if you are planning to go and want more recommendations! I am full of them!

Memphis // Graceland

Remember when I said I was planning a trip to Nashville? Well, if you follow me on Instagram, you know that I not only went to the Music City, but I made it to Memphis as well! I'm not a big touristy traveler, I like to hit all the spots recommended by locals and get a taste for what it would be like to live there. Well, I made a few exceptions in Memphis that were well worth it. Case in point: Elvis Presley's Graceland. I loved stepping into his home and getting a feel for what the superstar was really like behind closed doors. One thing I learned was that he loved to decorate with the latest trends. Check out the "state of the art" kitchen. Fit for a King.

Nashville Bound

I'm planning a trip to Nashville for New Year's Eve (woot! woot!) and Pennyweight's post from her work with Design Sponge is really coming in handy. Her top picks from her home town view has really gotten me excited...and impatient. I snagged her beautiful featured photos by Ryan Bernal, but you can check out her full list of places to eat, stay, and see on her site here.

Off to Seattle

I know, I know, I just came back from my little break, but I am taking the next few days off to go to Seattle to celebrate my best friend in bridal shower and bachelorette party festivities. Hope everyone has a fantastic rest of the week and weekend!

Calistogahhhh

Birthday weekend was a success! Fun times with my city gals on Saturday and rest & relaxation at Indian Springs in Calistoga with the hubby. I am one lucky girl!!

I am also one excited girl for my post tomorrow. It's a new styling segment featuring my one and only sister! We had a wonderful girly day where I styled her favorite pieces. Stay tuned, you won't be disappointed!

I Want to Go to There

It has been a busy week at work (hence, no post yesterday) so I am dreaming of taking a much needed vacation. In a perfect world without looming home renovation bills, I would go here. One of my faves, Size Too Small did a post for Need Supply back in January, and ever since then, I have put this South African spot high on my "must go there" list. Sigh...some day!

Sac-Town

Let's go on a road trip image found on shop sweet things

Happy Friday! This weekend the hubby and I are taking a quick trip up to Sacramento for an engagement party. Not wanting to disappoint the very fashionable bride, I am making sure I am packing everything I need to look my best.

The dress: Vintage find at my favorite thrift stop: Knimble in Cotati, CA. A nod to kimono styling with killer sleeves. Not too dressy, but not slacking off either.

The accessories: My trademark: black and gold bling. I focused on the hands and wrists with lots of rings and bracelets, not wanting a necklace to detract from the beautiful wrap neckline of the dress. Add in a small black bag, some chunky, strappy heels (from Zara), and of course red lipstick (from Sephora) along with a vintage lipstick case mirror.

The arsenal: With the hair and makeup, I want to look effortless with loose waves with the help of my wand. To get those, I start off with BB tonic lotion and styling cream and finish with TreSemme hair spray. My biggest must have is my Sally Hansen leg makeup. I love this stuff! A super pale gal's best friend!
